Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) | Virginia State Tax Credits
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond (BGCMR) is an approved non-profit organization for the 2024-2025 Virginia Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP). For a minimum gift of $500, an individual donor may be eligible to receive a 65% tax credit against his or her Virginia state income tax. The maximum allowable individual gift is $125,000. For businesses: $616 is the minimum donation eligible for tax credits in their taxable year. There is no maximum donation limitation for businesses.
Unlike a tax deduction, a tax credit reduces a donor’s tax bill dollar-for-dollar. For example, a $2,000 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond using this program would generate $1,300 in tax credits, so the donation would only “cost” the donor $700. When the tax credits are combined with the federal charitable deduction, the donation “cost” lowers even further.
